Gina S. Hornung Turner, 58, of Connersville, died Wednesday morning, December 10, 2014.
Gina was born February 8, 1956 in Rush County to Kenneth Wayne and Carol Gahimer Hornung and was a 1974 graduate of Connersville High School. She was employed as a residential care for CRF, Inc. and had driven a Fayette County School bus for 22 years. Gina enjoyed her time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also collected angels and loved to cook. Gina was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority.
Gina is survived by her husband Mike Turner, whom she married August 31, 1973 at the Grandview Church of Christ; two children: Matt Turner and his wife, Chelle of Fairborn, Ohio; Stefanie Turner of Flagstaff, Arizona; her grandchildren: Katie Lynne Turner and Dylan Turner who affectionately referred to her as “Gigi”; three brothers and their spouses: Jeff Hornung and Jeanie of New Palestine, Jon Hornung and Angi of Fairland; Joel “Jody” Hornung and Tammy of Fountain City; several nieces and nephews.
Gina is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Don Miller of Connersville officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday where memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
