He was born to Gladstone ‘Glad’ and Beatrice ‘Helen’ Herron on March 27, 1941 in Rushville, Indiana. He was a highly respected foreman at Design and Manufacturing (D & M) retiring after many years of service. Never one to sit idle, Don then sold cars at Advantage Ford in Connersville for ten years. As an avid outdoorsman, Don then began working as a groundskeeper at Brookville Lake. He was well known for his hunting and fishing skills and taught Dick Miller everything he knows about these subjects. Later in life, he enjoyed reading the Indianapolis Star while relaxing in his lounge chair. Don was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Connersville and enjoyed sharing bible verses as a means to share his faith. His favorite past time, by far, was spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. His dedication to both family and Jesus was resolute. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Don is survived by his wife of 51 years and the absolute love of his life, Linda Sue (Ledford) Herron whom he married on Oct. 4, 1969. He is also survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Shanna) Herron of Mentone, Indiana, and D. Scott Herron of Tennessee; Two daughters, Tracy Lafollette of Connersville, and Theresa Oeffinger of Kentucky; Three sisters, Katha J. Allen and her husband Fred I., both of Connersville, Brenda Fewell and her husband Dennis of Scottsburg, Indiana, Patricia Schmalfeldt and her husband Jeffrey of Four Oaks, North Carolina; Several well-loved grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews all of whom he deeply loved and was extremely proud of. Don was preceded in death by his parents; a son Stephen Herron, a daughter Tammy Mahuron, and his sister Diane.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
