William Dale Dauksza, 88, of Valley Cottage, NY, passed away on April 3, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on Long Island on August 4, 1936, William, known as Bill, was a business owner and a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and valued friend.
Bill is survived by his sister Carol Williams, spouse, Julie, daughter Kathryn, son William (Barbara); grandchildren Robert (Victoria), Mathew (Jessica), Alexander (Briana), Anna (Kevin), and Thomas; and greatgrandchildren, Wyatt, Beau, Lily, Daniel, Grace and Joseph. Bill was pre-deceased by his grandson Steven.
Bill was a beloved member of the Rockland County community. As a member of the Knickerbocker/Rockland Lake Fire Department, he was one of the youngest fire chiefs in Rockland County and lived long enough to be the oldest surviving fire chief in Rockland County. In his younger years he could be found swimming the span of Rockland Lake between lifeguard shifts. His friends referred to him as Spikes because of his lanky physique and crew cut. As an adult, he joined the family business, Barmore Pump and Electric. In 1974 he inherited the business and became known as the pump guy, providing well water to many members of the tri-state area. He knew every road in Rockland County and laughed at the GPS. He was an avid golfer, reader and international traveler.
A memorial service will be held at Higgins Funeral Home, 113 Lake Road in Congers, NY on Thursday April 10, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congers/Valley Cottage Volunteer Ambulance Corps. in his memory.
