Mary Elizabeth Colandrea

Mary E. Colandrea, of Congers, NY passed away suddenly on January 19, 2015. She was 76. Mary was born July 7, 1938 in Suffern, NY, the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Mutinsky) Madura. She graduated from Clarkstown High School in 1956 and worked as a public servant for over 38 years. She started at the Department of Motor Vehicles and then worked for the court system for 25 years, retiring as a Senior Court Clerk with the Rockland County Supreme and County Courts. Mary loved to cook and always made her family's favorite dishes and her coworkers loved the cookies she baked and gave to all the departments every Christmas. She also enjoyed gardening and decorating for all the holidays. Mary loved her family and her kitties and made sure they wanted for nothing, especially her grandson who was her pride and joy. "Grandma" was magic and made all her family's wishes come true. She is survived by her husband John, at home, their daughter Andrea Eckerson and husband Robert and their son, Anthony, of Chester, NY. Visitation and Memorial service will take place on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home, 113 Lake Road East, Congers, NY. In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to the Hi Tor Animal Care Center, 65 Firemen's Memorial Drive, Pomona, NY 10970.
