He is predeceased by his parents: Nicholas Sr. and Rosemarie and his younger brother, Nicholas Travaglini Jr. Mario fought valiantly to maintain his independence and dignity for more than twenty-five years. Born in Good Samaritan Hospital in 1957 he grew up in the hamlet of Valley Cottage, and attended Nyack Schools. Our brother was an athlete, while in NYHS he participated in football, wrestling and track.Mario was a multidimensional man, whose interests varied. A glazier by trade, he works for many years in Manhattan, tending to storefronts in SoHo as well as high-rise buildings throughout the city. He created many pieces of stained glass art for friends and family, from jewelry boxes and wall mirrors, to table and wall lamps. Working towards his black belt, he held a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do and drove in demolition derbies. He was a lover of the earth and believed the best "gifts" were those that came from nature. He kept honeybees and cultivated honey, which he gladly shared with others. He loved the Adirondack Mountains and particularly enjoyed weekends in Speculator, New York with family and friends. Prior to losing his ability to walk, Mario would jog fifty miles a week. This naturalist also raised green and red lace leaf maple, and evergreen trees from seedlings, together with a wide variety of plants and flowers. He transformed what others considered old and useless objects, into works of art. Mario is survived by his daughter Rose, son Liam, sister, Dr. Judith Travaglini, his brother Mr. Anthony Travaglini, and all the Travaglinis of Valley Cottage and Congers. He was an artisan and a true lover of nature.
