George A Nugent

George was a native of Yonkers, born September 30, 1930 to Thomas and Josephine Nugent and was the last survivor of their 7 children. He was inducted into the United States Army and graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning Georgia and served as a range instructor as a 1st Lieutenant. He earned a degree in economics from New York University. He married Arlene who predeceased him. They made their home in Valley Cottage with their 5 children. He was active in the Valley Cottage Civic Association and Chairman of the Clarkstown Sanitation Commission. He was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his children Joan Nugent of Harriman, George A. Nugent Jr., Michael J. Nugent (Patty Jean), James F. Nugent (Sally Haas), and John F. Nugent (Kirsten Goetz) all of Valley Cottage; and grandchildren Kevin, Kieran, Brian, Cayleen, Emily, and Colleen. The family will receive visitors on Sunday February 28, 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service in Congers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Paul's Church in Congers. Interment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Rockland Lake.
