It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Francis (Frank) LaCava, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather. Frank passed peacefully on April 12 th with his family by his side. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Frank was born on January 16, 1937 in Bronx, NY and grew up in Yonkers. Throughout his life, he exemplified love, dedication, quiet strength, and unwavering support for his family and friends. Frank married the love of his life, Mary, on April 19, 1968. As a husband, he was a pillar of strength and devotion, always putting his family first and ensuring their happiness and well-being. Their 57 years together were filled with warmth, laughter, and deep, enduring love.His love for Mary was evident in every moment they shared.
As a father, Frank was nurturing, patient, and endlessly supportive. He took immense pride in his children’s accomplishments, big and small, and was always there to guide them through life’s challenges. His wisdom and compassion were a constant source of inspiration, and his children will forever cherish the lessons he imparted and the memories they created together.
As a grandfather, Frank brought joy and laughter to his grandchildren’s lives. His gentle nature made every moment with them special. Frank looked forward to being there for all their achievements and cheering sideline at every sporting event, whether it was baseball, softball, basketball, football or cheer. Frank was owner and operator of Dedona Body and Auto in Yonkers for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, spending time in Florida, relaxing in his backyard, listening to Sinatra. and most importantly spending time with his family. A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants, he never missed a game.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife Mary, his loving children Christina and Michele (Mike), his cherished grandchildren Michael, Joseph, Anthony and Giuliana, his beloved sister Rosalie, and all his extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Margaret and his son-in-law, Bobby.
Frank’s absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15 th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at 10:00am, at St. Catherine’s Church, Blauvelt, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
