Elvira (Vivi) Pecora (nee Risi) will be remembered as a devoted mother and best friend, a loving “Mimi,” and friend to all who knew her. Vivi, 68, of Valley Cottage, NY, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2021. She was born on July 6, 1953 to Louise and Joseph Risi and was raised in Harlem, NY before moving to the Bronx and then settling down with her own family in Valley Cottage. She graduated from St. Helena’s High School in the Bronx in 1971 and went on to Wood Secretarial School. Vivi was a proud employee of Nyack School District for over 20 years and met some of her closest friends there. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, shopping, and mother-daughter card games. She is survived by her daughter Marie Pecora; her son Joseph and his wife Marlo Pecora, and grandchildren Roman and Royce. She is also survived by her mother Louise Risi, her brother Felix Risi, and many cousins, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her loving father Joseph. Her smile, laugh, and outgoing personality will never be forgotten.
Family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, August 20 at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, Congers, followed by interment at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Somerset Regional Animal Shelter, 100 Commons Way, Bridgewater Township, NJ 08807.
