Anthony R. Apuzzo

The family of Anthony R. Apuzzo mourns the loss of his life. Anthony was the son of Anthony and Cecilia Apuzzo, and was preceded in death, by his wife, Helen (Hanengraf) Apuzzo. He is the younger brother of Joseph Apuzzo, husband of Stephanie Apuzzo.

Anthony’s children: Theresa, wife of Carlos; Tony, husband of Melissa; and Robert; as well as his Grandchildren: Mary, Christopher, Joseph, James, Helen, Analise, and Anthony; and his Great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Khloee, ask for your prayers.

The Family will receive friends at the Higgins Funeral Home, 113 Lake Road East, Congers, NY, on Sunday, Sept 24, 2-9pm and on Mon, Sept 25, 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church in Congers on Tues, Sept 26 at 10am.

We mourn a man who helped the people around him whether it be family, friend, or stranger.

Anthony graduated from Cardinal Hayes HS in 1955, and later helped found the Cardinal Hayes Alumni Association where for 35 years he helped fundraise for his school. In 2000 he was inducted into the Cardinal Hayes Hall of Fame.

After his service to our country in our US Naval Forces, Anthony joined the NYC Fire Department and retired in 1975. As President of the Florian Association of Rockland County, he was instrumental in starting the Coats for Kids Program and his energy and enthusiasm was a driving force for 25 years.
