CONCORD – Wayne Gilpatrick Locke, 69, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Hackett Hill Healthcare, in Manchester, NH following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Locke was born on December 16, 1945, in Concord, NH the son of the late Lenore (Gilpatrick) Locke. He was also the grandson of George and Christy Gilpatrick. Mr. Locke had been a resident of Concord, NH since September 2011. Prior to this he resided in New York.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 21 years, Josephine Kaszuba Locke, of Concord, NH; his step-children, Cheryl Gilpatrick of Epsom, Bradford Gilpatrick of Pembroke, and Russell Gilpatrick of Manchester, and four grandchildren, Katie, Steven, Abigail and Hunter Gilpatrick; his sister Donna Brockney and her husband Wayne of Londonderry; a nephew Michael Brockney and his wife Angela of Londonderry, and their daughters, Julia and Sophia; and a nephew Richard Brockney of Boynton Beach, FL and, his sons, Stone and Mason.
Wayne graduated in 1964 from Concord High School. He was a veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1971. While serving in the Marine Corps Mr. Locke was honored with three Combat Action Ribbons and served in the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the military he was ranked as a Staff Sergeant. He was stationed overseas for two years at the US Embassy in Turkey. He then attended the Lynn Technological Institute from 1971 to 1974. Prior to retirement, Mr. Locke was self-employed as a computer programmer, and worked for the State of NH Dept. of Safety in Concord.
Mr. Locke was an avid admirer of American Bald Eagle Art. He enjoyed playing chess, bridge and cribbage. Other interests included watching movies, reading sci-fi, espionage and biographical books.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on March 5, 2015 from 4:00-5:00 PM at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street in Concord. A memorial service will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 110 DW Highway, in Boscawen, on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 3:00 PM.
