Born on May 12, 1932 in North Reading, MA in a tent with his loved ones. He grew up in Medford, MA but enjoyed spending his summers with his Mother Maude Cooper in New Hampshire. He frequented Newport, Claremont and his favorite Kellyville where he raised goats, chickens, and rabbits in his early teenage years.
In 1948, Sam moved to New Jersey where he met and dated his soon to be wife Noelle Cooper for 4 years, and enjoyed a beautiful marriage with the love of his life for 68 years. In 1969, Sam and Noelle settled down in Bow, NH where they raised their family. Sam’s final wishes were to enjoy his final days at home with his family.
Raised by his Mother and siblings after the loss of his Father at the young age of 7, Sam had to grow up at a young age. He helped his Mother and siblings by earning a living from making baskets and paper flowers, and later working in a textile factory for 3 winters. A provider at heart, Sam was destine to become his own man. He began gradually working with his brother in law at his paving company Bill Young Paving and in 1952; he founded Sam Cooper Paving & Son and operated it until he retired at the age of 82. His grandson continues the family business and his grandfather’s legacy. Sam loved to be on the go, and loved life, he was never one to complain or look for a handout.
Sam enjoyed spending time collecting cars and drag racing. He loved site seeing and traveling with family to his favorite destinations like NYC and Florida, and dreamed of seeing California. He frequented flea markets and yard sales, and attending town fairs and parades with marching bands. Most of all, he loved snacking watching his old westerns on his big screen. Sam was a family man and earned the names “Grandpa Cheesecake” & “Pa Pickles” from his grandchildren.
Sam leaves his dearly beloved wife Noelle Cooper; daughters Cynthia Kelso and her husband William, and Cheryl Cooper; grandsons Samuel W. Cooper III and William Kelso; great-grandson Samuel W. Cooper 4th; great-granddaughters Sadie Cooper and Macey Cooper; brother in-law Frankie Inzinna and his wife DJ Inzinna; nephew Dick Young and his wife Vicky; nieces Vashti Dow and her husband Rippy, and Deborah Bridges, and many great nieces and nephews, and Bobby Gullage and David Goodsell who where like sons to him.
