Roland was born on August 30, 1938 in Salem, MA the son of Georgette (Gagnon) Turgeon and Martin D’Entremont. Roland proudly served his country for six years as a medic in the United States Army before working for many years as a machinist and then store manager for Richdale. In 1980 he realized a lifelong dream and opened “Jo-Jo’s” convenience store on Cabot St in Beverly, MA. During the five years he owned that store he treasured the friendships he made with local community members. In 1985 he moved his family to Lewiston, ME where he worked in real estate and then as a security guard at a local nursing home. In 2003, he and his wife Sandra moved to Concord, NH to be closer to family. There, he worked at Concord Hospital until he retired at the age of 71. No matter what the job, Roland took pride in his work and rarely missed a day of work. Throughout the years, Roland enjoyed camping with his family, as well as spending time at the camp in Maine.
Roland is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra (Walker) D’Entremont of Concord, NH. Roland and Sandra were true partners in life until the very end.
Children include Chloe Samuels and her husband Michael of Meriden, CT, Daniel D’Entremont of Gloucester, MA, Michelle Fishwick of Concord, NH, and Jeanette LaGrasse and her husband Bryan of Salem, NH.
Roland, known lovingly as “Papa”, leaves behind six grandchildren who will miss his love and humor. Grandchildren include Sophie Samuels, Drew D’Entremont, Sydney and Ella Fishwick, and Ben and Owen LaGrasse.
Roland was the eldest male of eight siblings who loved him dearly. Siblings include Joanne Staples, Jeanne Conley, David D’Entremont, Leonard D’Entremont, Paul D’Entremont, Gloria Mitchell and Lauretta Cimon. Roland also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Roland will be laid to rest on October 19, 2018 at 3pm at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. Anyone who wishes to attend the burial ceremony is invited to do so. A Celebration of Life event is being planned by family with final details to follow.
