Robert J. Landry of Pembroke, NH, died Aug. 14, 202, at the age of 86 due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease. The son of the late Romeo and Bella (Lirette) Landry he was born April 15, 1935, in Waltham, MA. The youngest of ten children he was predeceased by his brothers Leo, Romeo, Albert, Edward and John and sisters Ida, Marie, Eva and Bertha. He was also predeceased by his son James who died in 2003.
Following high school he enlisted in the Air Force and served five years. His primary occupation in life was mechanics and he finished his career at UPS after 25 years there. He was an outstanding athlete excelling at any of the sports he attempted. From captaining the football and baseball teams in high school to winning both the Club Championship and the Senior Club Championship at Duston Country Club at age 63, sports were a big part of his life. In retirement he took up golf-club making, fitting custom clubs for many in the area. Over the years Bob enjoyed travel with his family in their RV spending time in the South in the winter and the coast of Maine in the summer. Toward the end of his life he resumed his interest in playing the clarinet and saxophone. He was so pleased to discover the New Horizon Band in Laconia and enjoyed practicing and playing with them.
He was a proud member of the American Legion (Post 21, Concord) and the USGA.
Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years Virginia (Green) Landry, his sons Robert J Landry Jr., Steven D. Landry (and his wife Kimberly), granddaughter Gina Landry, grandsons Joseph Landry and Peter Landry, all of Pembroke, his step-grandchildren Dylan Benninghove of Hooksett, and Jessica Moody of Boscawen along with two great-grandsons, nieces and nephews.
