He was born in Madison, NH, the son of Harry and Beatrice (Gregory) Harmon. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Phillip was a 1951 graduate of UNH and worked for several years for the State of New Hampshire Forensics Lab, retiring as a Chemist II. He volunteered for the Pats Peak Ski Patrol and was a member of the Concord Square Dance Club and the NH Bridge Association. He was a longtime member of the Bow Mills United Methodist Church in Bow. He was a master Mason and a member of Bow Young At Heart.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean (MacIver) Harmon of Bow, two sons, Neil Harmon and his husband Lalit Dodani of Worcester, MA and Angus Harmon and his wife Tara of Concord, two daughters, Heather Zehner and her husband Rick of Sheboygan, WI and Allison Harmon of Pike, NH, one brother, Daniel L. Harmon of Bladensburg, MD, five grandchildren, Katelynn Zehner, Meredith Zehner, Andrew Zehner, Madison Harmon and Lilly Harmon and one great-grandchild, Isaiah Gonzalez.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Bow Mills United Methodist Church, 505 South Street, Bow, NH. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA, 130 Washington Street, Penacook, NH 03303.
The Bennett Funeral Home, Concord, is in charge of arrangements.
