Norman was born December 10, 1939 in Wolfeboro, NH the son of the late Gordon and Ethel (Mitchell) Black.
He attended Brewster Academy, Wolfeboro, NH. Norman also served in the New Hampshire National Guard.
He worked in the retail grocery business for most of his life working at the A&P Supermarket, Meredith, NH and later as the manager of Inter Lakes IGA also in Meredith, NH. In 1980 Norman and his wife Jean purchased Crossroads Country Store in Salisbury, NH.
Upon selling Crossroads Country Store Norman and Jean moved to Canterbury, NH and then Loudon, NH until finally moving to John H. Whitaker Place, Penacook, NH.
In his youth, Norman was an avid hockey and baseball player. He was also a fan of the Red Sox and Boston Bruins.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean M. Black (Whiting), Penacook, NH and their children David Black and his wife Beth, Stratham, NH; Bill Black and his husband Gerry, Melrose, MA. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn (Black) Nelson, Wolfeboro, NH. He leaves behind nieces and nephews.
