Nona was born July 22, 1936 to Austin Duane and Violet Abigail Savary in Conway, NH. She was the fifth of eleven siblings. Following her early graduation from Kennett High School, at 16 years old, Nona moved to Concord to attend beauty school. It was in Concord that she met Alvin Richard Davis, the love of her life, and on September 1, 1956, they married. Nona owned and operated Nona’s Beauty Salon in Concord for over 20 years and followed that up with running a successful business through Amway until 2015. She had a wonderful gift for connecting with people, turning strangers into friends. She loved all professional sports, especially the Patriots, and it was not uncommon to hear her shouts of encouragement and disappointment at the TV on game days. For a woman that stood 5’1’’ and 1/2 inch (that was a very important 1/2 inch), she made sure the world heard her.
Nona is preceded by her husband, Alvin, and nine of her ten siblings. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Cliffton, daughter Gayle (Davis) Duprey and son-in-law, Michael; son, Alvin R. Davis III and his wife, Monika; grandchildren Elizabeth (Davis) Schultz, USAF, Ret. and husband Robert, Alvin R. Davis IV, Dr. Chelsea (Duprey) Doughty and husband Andrew, Erica Davis, Alexandra Duprey, Krisztian Davis and his wife Faith, and Tamas Davis; great-grandchildren Evelyn Schultz, Dailen Schultz, Logan Davis, Alvin R. Davis V, and Kit Davis Wieler. Nona passes on a legacy of love and service, and a strong female voice through her family.
