Nancy E. Bean, 87, of Concord died Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Concord Regional VNA Hospice House of colon cancer. She was born on February 7, 1930 in Shirley, Mass, to the late Joseph and Mary (Stephenson) Tremblay. She and her family moved to Concord in 1971 where she was employed by the Concord School District until her retirement in 1991.
Nancy was active in Christ the King Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, the Altar Society, and also volunteered at the Carmelite Monastery. She was a member of Antrim Grange, Pierce Brigade, Forever Young, and Always an Adventure.
She is survived by her daughters, Betsy Bean and Bird Taylor of Waltham, Mass., and Lydia Bean and Eric Johnson of Peterborough, and brother Robert Tremblay and his wife Nancy of Lunenburg, Mass. She is also survived by in-laws George and Jane Bean of Penacook, Robert and Joyce Bean of Concord, Drusilla Cox of Bennington, and Richard and Sarah Coen of Contoocook and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband of 44 years, John E. Bean Jr, died in 2001, and her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Hartwell Kidder of Ayer, Mass., died in 2013.
She loved the out-of-doors and kept busy volunteering, walking, biking, kayaking, and cross country skiing.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 3:00 – 7:00pm at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St, Concord, NH. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:30 at Christ the King Parish, 72 South Main St, Concord. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in the NH Veterans Cemetery.
