Our lives will never be the same with the unexpected loss of our wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, niece and cousin, Kierstin L. Newcombe, on December 15th, 2023 due to health complications. Kierstin passed away in Sugar Hill, NH where she owned the Sugar Hill Inn with her husband, Christopher Chesley. She was born January 10, 1984 in Concord, NH and was looking forward to celebrating her 40th birthday.
Kierstin grew up in Manchester, NH and was a 2002 graduate of West High School in Manchester. She was in the National Honor Society and an athlete who excelled in swimming, softball, basketball and field hockey. Kierstin received her BA degree from the University of Vermont, where she spent a semester abroad at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, and her Master’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University. Upon graduation, she was an Admissions Counselor for several years. It was during one of her off campus recruiting trips that she met Christopher. They were engaged while hiking in Glacier National Park and married in NH in 2009. Chris’s career took them to Traverse City, MI where their children Elin (10) and Leif (9) were born. They then spent the next few years in Lakewood Ranch, FL and Fort Collins, CO before returning to NH in 2021 and purchasing the Inn.
Kierstin was very outgoing, caring and generous. She was great fun to be with and easily made, and kept, friends everywhere. Trying to leave a restaurant or other venue with her could be challenging at times because she never met a stranger and could chat forever. She lit up a room and could get one’s whole life story within minutes. Cats were one of her passions, earning her the nickname of “kitty-kat”. She adored her cats, Truffle and Coco. However, her biggest passion was her children whom she loved so very much. She took great pride in their beauty both inside and out, and their accomplishments. She looked forward to seeing them go through their teenage years and to where life took them.
Kierstin will be profoundly missed by Chris, Elin and Leif, her parents Laurie Kempf (Brian Fitzpatrick) and Craig Newcombe, sisters Kelly, Kerry and Katie Forbush, brother Joe Forbush, grandparents Gerald and Lillian Newcombe, nieces Kenzie and Willow, Aunts Cheryl Newcombe and Lynne Smith, Uncle Robert Kempf, several cousins, and Chris’s parents, sisters and brother along with their families. Family gatherings will certainly be without the energy and humor that Kierstin brought.
A private service for family is being planned through Bennett Funeral Home in Concord, NH.
A celebration of Kierstin’s life will be announced at a later date. For those wishing to make a donation in Kierstin’s memory, please consider St. Jude Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
