On October 11, 2023, after a period of illness, heaven gained a wonderfully beautiful soul. Eileene Thurston ( Barton), 79, of Concord, NH, returned to her heavenly Father. While we wept here, heaven rejoiced as Eileene is once again home with her heavenly family.
In life, Eileene suffered greatly being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her 20's, but that never stopped her from being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother or family member. She considered everyone she loved a blessing. She was a loving mother, and considered motherhood to be her earthly purpose, she would often be laughing and playing with her children. She was well known for slapping her knee when excited and then saying ouch which always brought a smile to the rest of us. Being a loving soul was her greatest accomplishment and undoubtedly her key to heaven.
Eileene is survived by her siblings, Louisa, Sharon, Karene, Janet, Rhoda, Douglas, Peter, Omar, Pam, Greg, and Patricia. She loved her large family. Her three children, Christine, Rory Scott, and Faith. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Tony, Alex, Danielle, Melissa, Cody, Brayden, Bentley, Hadley, and Hanna; when she saw any of them she always wanted a smooch and a hug. Elieene also leaves her great grandchildren; Jaxon, Hannah, and Raegan, the modern technology of Zoom made it easier for her to spend time with them and watch them grow over the last few years and through the pandemic, and she never missed the opportunity to see them. Eileene also leaves countless nieces and nephews.
Though she always told us we were a blessing, it was truly all of us that were blessed to have such a beautiful soul, as a sister, mother and grandmother.
Eileene's funeral service will be on Wednesday November, 8th at 10:00am at Christ the King Church located at 72 South Main St. in Concord, NH. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bennett Funeral Home 209 N. Main Street, Concord, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to the Dementia Society.
