Dianne E. Crean, Pembroke, NH -- Dianne E. Crean passed away peacefully on October 8, 2022 at The Birches of Concord, NH at the age of 85 after living many years with Alzheimer’s.
Dianne was born in Montpelier, VT on October 6, 1937 the daughter of Arthur Allan and Dorothy Matilda (Godette) Wisell. While very young, her family moved to Bellows Falls, VT where she grew up and attended K-12. She attended Fischer Junior College in Boston, MA where she majored in English and received an Associate’s Degree in Secretarial Science in 1958. Dianne worked as a Medical Secretary for a few years before marrying her high school sweetheart, Louis “Lou” DiBernardo on August 25, 1959. They relocated from Bellows Falls, VT to Concord, NH and raised their family first in Concord, then in Pembroke. She and Lou were married 13 years and had 3 children together.
In 1972, when her children were older, Dianne moved back to Concord and went back to work a legal secretary. She worked first for the State of NH in Legislative Services and the Attorney General’s office for several years. She later worked for Orr & Reno Professional Association where she became known as the “go to” person for help with writing and grammar corrections. She was an excellent writer and editor for work friends and family alike! Dianne retired from Orr & Reno in 1999 after almost 20 years.
In 1974, while working at Legislative Services, she met the love of her life, Daniel “Dan” Crean, and on June 23, 1979, they were married. She and Dan remained happily married for over 43 years. Dianne and Dan lived first in Concord, then Laconia, Canterbury and then finally moved back to Pembroke where she lived for over 21 years. Dianne and Dan’s love of travel took them to many places over the years, their favorites being Ireland and Prince Edward Island, Canada. Dianne also enjoyed watching football with Dan, especially his favorite team, the Packers. Family meant a lot to her and in addition to her children, she was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom lived nearby, something she was always very pleased with. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers where she could see everyone, cookouts in the summer, birthday parties throughout the year and holiday get-togethers.
Dianne was very musically inclined and was a member of the Concord Choral for many years, singing in the position of Soprano. She played the piano quite well and loved singing with family and friends. She was an avid fan of classical music and attended many symphony concerts with Dan.
Dianne was predeceased by her parents, her two brothers-in-law, Ted Waryas and Jules Homokay and her grandson Cameron.
Dianne is survived by her husband, Daniel, her oldest daughter, Lisa Lawrence and her husband Robin of Salisbury, NH; her favorite son, Anthony “Tony” DiBernardo of Epsom, NH; and her youngest daughter, Christina Foote and her husband Robert also of Epsom, NH; two sisters, Peg Waryas of Carmel, IN and Joan Homokay of Crestline, CA; seven grandchildren-Amy, Haley, Karah, Kayte, Karly, Patrick, and Heather; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
