Barbara was born on August 16, 1924 in South Portland, Maine and lived in Concord for the past 69 years. A hardworking and spiritual person, Barbara focused on her family and faith foremost. Always active, she took great enjoyment in family trips to Maine and loved to dance, particularly with her husband Dennis (Danny), continuing exercise classes and line dancing until her early 90s. Barbara worked for many years with the City of Concord, making lifelong friends, and earned her college degree while balancing home and work.
Barbara was happy to serve Christ the King Parish including St. John’s and St. Peter’s Catholic Churches, as a Stephen Minister, Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound, and contributing to Christmas fairs and Catholic Daughters. This work fulfilled her purpose, and she likely had no idea that her humility and quiet spirituality made such a lasting impression on her family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Jack Rafferty and wife Lin of CA, and Thomas Rafferty of Concord, NH; three daughters, Eileen Shaw and husband Charles of GA, Judith Blossom and husband Dale of NH and Nancy Rafferty of VT. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many Kirby and Rafferty family members who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by daughter Sharon Broderick in 1969 and husband Dennis Rafferty in 2007.
