William C. “Bill” Coleman, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at his residence. He was born October 19, 1956 in Washington Court House, the son of William C. and Garnetta (Vance) Coleman, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973-1975 and was stationed in Germany. Bill retired after 25 years from Pickaway Correctional Institute as a Counselor Sgt. He enjoyed farming, swimming, carpentry, restoring antique cars and working on farm machinery. A devoted family man Bill spent much of his time remodeling his home for the comfort of his wife and children. He loved riding motorcycles with his sons and playing with his grandchildren. Bill and Charmie always dreamed of going to Ireland and were able to do so in 1995. They enjoyed their trip so much that Bill took Charmie back to Ireland for their 25th wedding anniversary in 2002.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Janet (Wright) Betts. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Charmaine “Charmie” (Betts) Coleman; his parents Bill, Sr. and Garnetta; sons, Shawn William (Rebecca) and Nathan Lee (Brandie) Coleman; granddaughters, Paige Alexis and Morgan Rose Coleman; a brother, Chad Edward Coleman; and sister, Willa (Neil) Meredith; father-in-law, Jack Betts; brother-in-law, Doug (Shanna) Betts; sisters-in-law, Kelly Betts and Sabrina (Mark) Dollison; many nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was dearly loved by his family and will be deeply missed. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Doss. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery with military honors provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
