Bill served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge he graduated from Kent State University with a major an accounting. Bill spent his working years first as a Medicaid caseworker in Lake County, Ohio and then a Medicaid Auditor for the State of Ohio. Bill retired in 2008 with over 35 years of public service.
Bill was also a 32nd degree Mason, a member of University Lodge and Aladdin Shriners, where he recently stepped down as the Assistant Director of the Registrar Unit. He was also a member of Worthington Shrine Club. He believed in very deeply in the work of Shriners Hospitals for Children and was a Roadrunner, transporting children and families to Shrine Hospitals for treatment, until his health no longer permitted him to do so. He was also a member of Linworth United Methodist Church.
Bill will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 37 years, Kathryn (Hammond) Bell; daughter, Jennifer (Greg) Brown of Cincinnati; sister, Laura M. Becker of Newark; nephew, Vincent Becker of Hebron; and, nephew, Jason Becker of Newark.
A Memorial Service for Bill will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2:30pm at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street, with Reverend Gene Folden and Pastor Victoria Apicella officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the time of the Masonic Service at 2pm.
