Violet R. Sanders

Violet Mary Rennie Sanders, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Vi was born in West Hartford, Conn on August 18, 1916 to the late William and Mary (Jamieson) Rennie. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. Arthur Sanders. They were married for 69 years when he passed away in April of 2011. Vi’s volunteer experiences through the First Community Church gave her great pleasure. She worked for years at the church Trading Post. She and Art were active members in their church couples group where they enjoyed wonderful friendships for many years. She was a talented rug-hooker and met regularly with dear friends who enjoyed this hobby together. Art and Vi shared a passion of sports of all kinds and a love for the ocean, spending many summer vacations on Cape Cod surrounded by their family. She was a great cook, nurturer, and enjoyed traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed being surrounded by her loving family. She will be missed by all. Vi is survived by her daughter Lynne Sanders Goslee, Falmouth, MA; son, Bruce Sanders of Poway, CA; grandchildren, Jill Goslee Bailey, Amy Goslee DeWitt, Dr. Matthew Goslee, Dr. Timothy J. Goslee, Molly Sanders Koustmer, Julie Sanders, Jay Sanders, Kathryn Sanders Smith, Collin Sanders, and16 great-grandchildren. Vi is also survived by her oldest sister Dorothy Astman. She was preceded in death by her son, Arthur Jamieson Sanders and sister Alva Rennie Brantz. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 19, 2012 at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd, Columbus, OH 43221. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Community Church Foundation, Art Sanders Fund, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212 or Kobacker House, 180 East Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215.
