Vera McKenzie

Vera Marie McKenzie, a lifelong resident of Columbus, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010, two days after her 90th birthday. After graduating from North High School class of 1939, she attended St. Mary’s of the Springs and worked during the war at Curtiss-Wright in the mailroom. She was a member of the “old” St. Peter’s Church and since 1960, St. Matthias Church. She loved music, especially playing the organ and singing with the Mothersingers. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Freda Hunsinger, her husband Arthur A. and two grandchildren Ryan P. and Christopher J. She is survived by children, Terry (Chris), Tim (Karen), Mike (Laurie), Mark (Val), Laurie (Craig) Adams, Kevin (Andre), Patrick, and Sean (Becky); twenty two grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and a host of special friends. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Matthias Church, 1582 Ferris Rd. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
