Tyler James Cannon, 19, of Upper Arlington, unexpectedly passed away January 3, 2023 in Columbus. He was born March 26, 2003 in Columbus, the son of Daniel and Alison (Plageman) Cannon Jr. He graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 2021 where he was a member of the Varsity baseball team and National Honor Society. He was currently taking time off from being a student at Ohio State University and was making plans to re-enroll in 2023.
Tyler attended St. Andrew Catholic Church in Upper Arlington and had been a counselor in the Sacred summer program for several years. Growing up, he played many sports and made a lot of great friends in the following UA programs: Upper Arlington Junior Baseball Association, Upper Arlington Baseball Association, Golden Bear Basketball Club, UA Optimist Basketball, UA Youth Football, Hastings MS Football and UA Matcubs Wrestling.
He had a lot of hobbies that he shared with his family and friends including: ceramics, fishing, ice skating, pick-up basketball, pickle ball, boating/tubing, cornhole and freestyle rapping. He had been a part-time employee at UPS and Makotek. He was also an organ donor.
Tyler is survived by his parents Dan and Ali of Upper Arlington, his brother Jake and his sister Ellie. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Jim and Liz Plageman of Columbus and Jo (Beals) Plageman of Bexley; and his paternal grandmother, Mary (Webster) and Roger Patterson of Lowell, Ohio. Tyler was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dan Cannon. He is also survived by his close friends David Stein, Chris Schueler, Tommy Kalogeras, Mitchell Billman and Nick Porter, all from Upper Arlington and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins along with his dog, Griffin.
Tyler was a very kind, creative, inquisitive and gentle soul, but also a bit of a free spirit, which is best visualized with his hair choices, clothing, artwork and goofiness with his friends and family. He will be most remembered for loving life and living the way he wanted to live.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Schoedinger Funeral Home in Upper Arlington. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 3-7pm. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11am at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Upper Arlington followed by a burial service at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne. Memorial contributions may be made to Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (bbrfoundation.org) in his memory as Tyler always had a special interest in behavioral health.
