Thomas "Tom" Ormond Zinser, 77, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at St. Ann's Hospital surrounded by his family following a long and courageous battle with COPD. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Judith (Skeen) Zinser; his sons, Dayne (Melanie) Zinser and Darren Zinser; daughter, Dema (Richard) Nedved; 3 grandchildren, Krista Wagner, Tad Nedved and Destin Zinser, as well as 3 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Braxton, Bentley and Madyn Wagner. Tom was born May 24, 1939 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He moved to Ohio at the age of 14 with his family and eventually became a resident of Gahanna, where he spent the majority of his life. Tom served as a firefighter from March of 1969 to March of 1996, where he saved many lives. He also was a meat cutter at Kroger for 45 years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Logan, Ohio. He loved making others laugh, especially children, and was well known for his unique sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking road trips, watching the Green Bay Packers play, fishing, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and gardening. Family will welcome friends 4-7pm Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. Gahanna, OH 43230 with a service beginning at 7pm. Tom's life will also be celebrated in a special way this summer down in Logan, which will be communicated to family and friends once plans are definite.
