It pleased the Father to call him from labor to reward unto eternal rest. All of heaven and loved ones gone before rejoiced at his coming. We yield to the will of the Father releasing him into his hand and anxiously await that joyful reunion with him at the glorious appearing of the Lord.
Thomas, a faithful minister of the gospel, served as pastor of the United Brethren Church for over 35 years. After retiring from pulpit ministry, he served in other areas of ministry alongside his wife, Gladys, as lay speaker, facilitator of spiritual growth groups, bible study, and Sunday school. Tom also served well for his country as a soldier in WWII and received an honorable discharge.
A life well lived and loved by all who knew him. The son of Rev. Miles Stewart and Cora Althea Stewart, Tom leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Gladys, who loved him dearly; children, Wilma Lee (Doug) Lloyd, Nancy Rose Groff and Shirley (John) Giesler; step-children, Cyntoria D. Lucas, Laveda S. Neal, and Regina L. Smith; 24 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; sister, Althea (Rev. Edward) Baldwin of Lake Alfred, FL; brothers-in-law, Bruce Fletcher and Rev. Norman Childs; sister-in-law Arlene Childs; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife, Cecile M. Stewart; his parents, Rev. Miles Stewart and Cora Althea Stewart; son, Thomas M. Stewart; great-granddaughter, Lindsey Grace Kernick; brothers, Joseph L. Stewart, William J. Stewart, Everette Allen Stewart and Malcolm G. Stewart and sister, Ethel Clements.
Visitation will be held 11 until 12 pm Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, OH 43232 where a funeral service will begin at 12 Noon. A graveside service will be held 12 Noon Friday, June 14th at Union Cemetery in Guys Mills, PA.
