Thomas Michael Rose, age 65, of Powell died peacefully at home on June 6, 2012. He was born May 22, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to James L. Rose and Pauline M. Rose. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend who was loved deeply, cherished and admired by everyone. He loved being with his family and friends. He had a beautiful smile and a twinkle in his eye that told everyone that he was listening to them and that he was enjoying the moment of being with them. He made everyone feel special. He was an incredible person that wanted to take care of everyone, never complaining about anything and always lived each day to its fullest. He enjoyed traveling and his favorite trips were when he went out west for six weeks with his family after he graduated from Hilliard High School and his second favorite were his three trips to Ireland, the last being for a full month. How he loved The New Reel Inn in Donegal town, County Donegal where all the locals would bring their instruments to play and strike up an Irish song. While wintering in Florida he was a member of two motorcycle clubs and took many nice rides on his Harley. Tom was in the transportation business for 38 years, of which the last 28 were with ABF. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was also a member of The Elks in Rotonda West, Fl., Columbus Board of Realtors, Ohio Assn. of Realtors, National Board of Realtors, Columbus Freight Club and Columbus Transportation Club. He played in the Transportation Club’s golf league for over 20 years. Tom was proud to serve his country in Viet Nam. He was in the Navy for four years and was on the USS Pivot, a Navy Minesweeper. After that he joined the Air Force Reserves for two years. Preceded in death by father James Lincoln Rose. Survived by loving wife, Carolyn Sue Rose; mother, Pauline M. Rose; son, David M. Donley of Lancaster; step-daughters, Tyra (Larry) Geis of Lewis Center, Angela (Jeff) Hooper of New Albany; sister, Marsha (Dave) Brawley of Dublin; and brother, Daniel (Kathy) Rose of Hilliard. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Connor Murphy, Dylan Hooper, Mitchell Hooper and Karter Donley; nephews, Shawn (Anita) and Nick Rose; and niece, Lisa Lemaster. A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington where family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Father Jeffrey Tigyer officiating.
