Thomas J. Jones

Thomas J. Jones, age 90, of Columbus, died Sunday, October 18, 2009 at New Albany Gardens and Care Center. Son to the late George H. and Helen Ryan Jones, Tom was born November 25, 1918 in Columbus. Tom served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the E.T.O (European Theatre of Operations) 351st General Service Engineers. He retired from Timken Roller Bearing Company after 34 years. Tom was a member of the American Legion Post #82, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3826, and a life member of AMVETS Post #89. Preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Geneva Derenburger Jones; brothers, John, George, William, and Robert Jones; and sisters, Helen Derenburger, Mary Ann Smith, and Betty Cornwell. Tom will be missed by his children, Flora Jones, Debbie (Mike) Hatem, and Tim (Toni) Jones; grandchildren, J Heather Jones, Jill (Joe) Requejo, Holly (Josh) Stewart, Jake, Bill, and Andrea Jones; and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services 10am Thursday, October 22, 2009 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL , 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, where family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-9pm. Interment in Fairview Memorial Park.
