Sidney Jenkins, age 89, of Columbus, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011. He was born March 19, 1922 in Shelby, Mississippi to the late Will and Cora Jenkins. He married Eloise (Hunter) Jenkins and enjoyed 69 years of marriage. Together, they raised three daughters, Pat Holmes, Phyllis Earley and Peggy Thomison. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Robert (Gaye) Holmes, Diallo (Marlowe) Earley and Kamilah “Kai” (Gerald) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Vincent, Briaunna, Sydney, Aliyah and Makayla; numerous nieces, nephews, including special nephew Louis, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Clemmie, Deloris, Geneva, Genetta and Alice and brothers, Luchers, Hollis and Austine. Sidney was a WWII Army Veteran and had retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Sidney cheered on the Cincinnati Reds, enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his dedication to his family. Family will receive friends 5-6pm Monday, October 24, 2011 at Schoedinger Linden Memorial Chapel, 2741 Cleveland Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43224 where services will begin at 6pm; Bishop Donald J.
