Shirley K. Schaeffer

Shirley K. Schaeffer, age 97 of Columbus, died Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 at Westminster Thurber Community. Shirley was born in Irvona, PA on August 14th, 1921 to Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Stella (Hollingsworth) Fowler. Shirley took great pride in her profession as a nurse, and was a dedicated caregiver all of her life. She was always very protective of her family and those she cared for and loved. Her feisty spirit made her a staple of the family whom everyone loved to be around! She was special to many and will be tremendously missed. Along with her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Barbour; brother, Walter Fowler; daughter, Sandra Rowland; and loving husband, William Schaeffer. She is survived by her brother, Joseph (Frances) Fowler; sister-in-law, Ruth Fowler; grandchildren, Christina (Kevin) Freeman, Daniel (Rebecca) Rowland, and Michael (Lorraine) Rowland; greatgrandchildren, Emma and Alex Freeman, and Conner Rowland; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Wednesday, June 19th starting at 10:00am at SCHOEDINGER EAST Chapel, 5360 East Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH 43232. Funeral service will begin at 11:00am with interment to follow at Glen Rest Cemetery.
