Samuel Ervin Tate, IV aka "Four/Polo" was called home on August 1, 2021. He was born on May 5, 1988, in Columbus, Ohio to Samuel Tate, III and Minister Jacqueline J Tate. Samuel graduated from Mifflin High School in 2005. He went on to further his education at Columbus State Community College where he majored in Business Administration. He served as co-owner of Certify Agency Resources Enforcement, LLC. He worked with disabled clients. Samuel volunteered as a football assistant coach for the Saints 75 pounders. He worked for his sister, Khalilah LaRue, as Security Guard for LaRue Psychiatric Services, and supervised fund raisers for his children's sports teams. Sam was a connoisseur of laughter, love, freedom, joy, and loved good food. He lit up the room whenever he entered the room. He loved to help his family and friends who were in need. He was a very loving and kind person who will be greatly missed. Sam was nicknamed "Polo" gifted to him by his cousin, Michael Gordon Jr. When Michael explained to him what "Polo" meant, he honored it, and took on that name. Polo means "Protector of Love Ones." Sam was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Cora Perkins-Bell, Louis Perkins Sr., his great grandparents, Claude Bean Sr. and Hazel Bean of Amite, LA; grandparents, Claude Bean Jr., Audrey Bell of New Orleans, LA; and and Will Bell of Independence, LA. He is survived by his parents, Samuel III and Minister Jacqueline Tate of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Khalilah (Kenneth) LaRue of Hilliard, Ohio, and Jacquayle (Adrian Farris) Tate of Columbus, Ohio. His children's mother, Alexis Dodd of Columbus, Ohio; grandparents, Clementine Bean, Samuel (Thelma) Tate II, of New Orleans, LA; great aunts Bishop Dr. Christine (Elder Frank) McGee of Columbus, Ohio, Elder Lucille Abbott of New Orleans, LA; and his uncle, Deacon Jackie (Sr. Pastor Johnnie) Perkins of Columbus, Ohio, aunts First Lady Linda (Bishop Jackie) Rowan of Ponchatoula, LA, Claude III (Janice) Bean of New Orleans, Joyce Bean of Lafayette, LA, Joseph Bean Sr of New Orleans, LA; Bishop Hazel and Bro. Edward Simmons; Michael Bean of Atlanta, GA; Yonder Bean Gordon of Columbus, Ohio, Stephanie (Charles) Larry of Houston, TX, and Kevin Smothers of New Orleans, LA. His children, Aniah, Samuel V, and Kayden Tate, and Zyon Dodd of Columbus, Ohio. His nephews, Kenneth, Jayden, Blue, and Karter, and his nieces, Khloe and Londyn of Columbus, Ohio, as well as a host of cousins and friends. On behalf of the Tate, Bean, Simmons, Gordon, and LaRue families, and all the descendants of the family, words are inadequate to express our gratitude for the kindness, the wonderful words of expressions, songs, comfort, and support you have shown as such a time as this, in the departing of our dearly beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 11am-12pm at True Love Ministries Church, 1634 Minnesota Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211, where a Funeral Service will take place at 12noon. Burial will proceed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, LA, 70122 at a date to be announced by family.
