Roger F. Dreyer, age 81, of Dublin passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011. Roger was born on June 3, 1929 in Ashland, Ohio; he was the son of the late Carl F. and Effie Mae Dreyer. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Jerry and Ronald Dreyer; and sister, Barbara Brownfield. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Sue Dreyer; devoted children, Steven Dreyer of Dublin, Cathy (Armando) Cuervo of Westerville and Karen (Bill) Womack of Dublin; grandchildren, Steven, Jr., William, Andrew, Cristina and Austin; sister, Shirley Heffelfinger of Loudonville; and brother, Carl Dreyer, Jr. of Willard. Roger received his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Kent State University. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army at Camp Breckenridge where he served as editor for their first newspaper. Roger was president of the Ohio Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association from 1962 to 2009. In November, 1969 he was appointed by Governor Rhodes as Secretary on the Board of the Ohio Transportation Research Center, he was later named Chairman. In May of 2007, PMAA (Petroleum Marketers Association of America) awarded him with its distinguished service award, the highest honor bestowed by PMAA. He was awarded Commodore, Ohio’s highest honors, on July 1966 by Governor Rhodes and was a past chairman of the Ohio March of Dimes. Roger was a charter member of Muirfield Village Golf Club, where he spent many of his days. Roger loved the game of golf and planned many golf outings for PMAA. Since his retirement Roger enjoyed mentoring his grandson Austin and proudly helped him achieve championship level play. He enjoyed politics and history. But Roger’s true passion was the love he had for his grandchildren. Upon the family’s request there will be private services for Roger.
