Bob Shaffer, age 55, of Grove City, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at his home following a battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Franklin Heights and Paul C. Hayes Technical School, Class of 1978. During his life, Bob worked many jobs to make ends meet, among them were graphic arts, printing, electro-mechanical repair tech., DJ, bar operations, and most recently ophthalmic instrument repair. All of these jobs were in support of Bob’s true passion, music. Bob sang and played bass in many bands, most memorably Rusty Axx, Stage Runner and Drive alongside dear friends and longtime bandmates, Chris “gtr-dog” Leonardo and Steve “Stingo” Starkey. He was an avid fan of all motorsports and NFL football, with a deep compassion for all animal critters. Bob is survived by his mother, Barbara Ward; siblings, Tina (Skip) Warren and Ed (Jane) Shaffer; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Edwin F. Shaffer, step-mother, Carol Shaffer, and step-father, Tony Ward.
