Robert E. Powell

Robert Earl Powell, age 88 of Columbus, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was born June 28,1935 in Meigs County, Ohio. He was proceeded in death by his parents Earl Ivan Powell and Leah Emaline(Buckley-Powell) Marshall, brothers Jack Eugene Powell and Roy Eugene Powell and grand-daughter Brandy Dawn Hendrickson.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Mae (Buckley) Powell; daughters: Julianne Powers(Ronald Peter Stacey) of New Mexico, Vickie Sue (Jerry Edwin)Hendrickson of Marengo, Ohio, and Christine Maria (Scott Alan) Miller of Pleasantville, Ohio; grand-children: Holly Ann Keegan(Ladd Taylor), Garrett Scott Miller, Michaelangelo Ian Miller, and Ethan Amadeus(Destiny Naayers) Miller; Great-grandchildren: Mathias and Angelica Meade, Micah Isaiah, Briar Wyatt, and Jeremiah Edwin Bush, and Kayson Amadeus Miller. Also survived by sister Ruth Ann Flowers and brother Joe Powell, plus many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Bob worked at Westinghouse as a press operator for 28 years. After his retirement from Westinghouse he worked security for various companies, ending his working years at Nationwide Insurance Company in the Maintenance Department.

Bob’s guilty pleasures were playing chess; bird watching; feeding birds and squirrels; woodworking; euchre, reading books; gardening of flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees; guitar, banjo and mandolin playing; sharing cherry pie with his grandson Mick; fishing; oil painting; and playing solitaire online.

The best role Bob played was wonderful husband to Edie, greatest father to his three daughters, greatest father-in-law and father figure to sons-in-law; grandfather to all grandchildren near and far; and a wonderful great-grandfather to Mathias, Angelica and Kayson, and a father figure to Micah and Briar these past 15 years.

A memorial service for Robert will be held Monday, January 22, 2024. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:00 pm prior to the service and the service will begin at 1:00 pm at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services by Schoedinger-Hilltop, 3030 W Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
