Robert Pearson "Bob" Murdock, II, 72, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. He was born September 18, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Elsie (Barber) Murdock. He was a 1965 graduate of Mifflin High School where he lettered in wrestling. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from American Electric Power with 31 years of service and South-Western City Schools with 8 years of service. He was awarded the Helping Hands Award twice during his time with the school district. In his younger years, he was an avid traveler and played many sports. He always enjoyed spending time outdoors and his memorable trip to Alaska and trips to Brant Lake in New York. He cherished the time he spent with family and friends, especially his 2 granddaughters. He was very active in Boy Scouts when his boys were growing up and remained passionate about teaching and mentoring youth throughout his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marsha and Roger Hammond and Patty and Don Bishop; and brother-in-law, Larry Southworth. Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Sandy Murdock; children, Bob (Rob Hendricks) Murdock, Michael (John Blazer) Murdock, and Melissa (Nate) Weygandt; beloved granddaughters, Thalia Renee and Lana Grace Weygandt; sisters, Jean Southworth and Dorothy (Frank) Cardinale; brother, Tom (Kathy) Murdock; godson, Jeff (Claudia) Southworth; and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday.
