Bob graduated from Northland High School in 1971, and after moving back to Columbus in 2018, was excited to work with and support the Northland Alumni Foundation. He loved music of all kinds and sang in choirs throughout high school and his years at Miami University. Bob worked several summers at Camp Mowana in Mansfield, where he made lifelong friends and was key in organizing a counselor reunion. He was an accomplished bowler, a regular at the dog park with Jack, the dog, and loved drinking beer with the friends he made wherever he went.
Following are some thoughts from his nieces and nephews, which capture Bob's spirit in a wonderful way.
“My Uncle Bobby was a gentle giant who loved animals more than people, grabbing a beer, chatting about food, adventures to anywhere (no matter how out of the way), and gift giving. We drove him nuts when we were all together, but he came anyway. He loved us and we loved him! “
“If I can be half the aunt to my nieces and nephews as you were an uncle to me, I will consider myself lucky. I hope there is a never-ending supply of beer up there for you.”
"Bobby was my uncle who came into town bringing CDs and taking me to the movies when I was a kid. He was so much fun! When I had kids, he brought them clothes and stuffed animals. My girls loved him. Children and animals were always drawn to him.”
“Our family lost an incredibly kind, generous and loving spirit. He was a good man, and the world is a little less bright without him. I’ll do my best to spread love and treats like Bobby did.“
He is survived by his three loving sisters Sue (Mick Aber) Campbell, Linda Douce, and Beth (Ty) Hanline; nieces and nephews Laura (Zipp) Duncan, Jen (Nick) Moore, Kevin (Lindsay) Douce, Erin (Mark) Prenger, Ben Aber, Sarah (Corey) Brindley and Katie Aber; three grandnieces Aubrey Brindley, Olivia and Sophia Moore; and his beloved dog, Jack.
