Rita Joann Sabatino

Rita J. Sabatino, age 88, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday, January 4, 2019. She was born on June 15, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Victor and Catherine (Grove) Meyers. Rita graduated from Holy Rosary High School. She was Vice-President of the Buckeye Potato Chip Company and helped grow the company into a successful local brand. Rita was a member of Saint Andrew parish and cherished helping with the parish festival. Rita was dedicated to helping with the Christ Child Society, the Friends of the Josephinum, and the Good Grief Foundation. Rita loved her family as well as life itself and had a heart of gold that knew no stranger. Rita was a constant marvel to all with her vibrant personality.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, P. Philip Sabatino and her second husband, C. Fred Lewis. Rita is survived by her children: Victor Sabatino, P. Ronald Sabatino, Teri (Michael) Walton, Catherine Saporito (Michael Crary), Thomas (Doreen) Sabatino and Janet (Stanley) Dannemiller. Her grandchildren: Julie (Andrew) Jennison, Katie (Adam) Lundy, Laura Woods, Megan (Maxwell) Ogran, Victor (Jenna) Sabatino, R.J. Sabatino, Michele Walton, Nicole (Michael) de Bear, Joseph (Dana) Saporito, Philip (Michelle Maguire) Saporito, Samantha (Mathew) Sturges, Jason (Krista) Crary, Mark (Lauren) Crary, Bryan (Stephanie) Crary, Carrie (Scott) Bassitt, Laura (Jonathon) Knape, Andrew (Jennifer) Sabatino, Jaime (Gary) Dykman, Jessica Budd, Rita Mary (Steven) Basic and Scott (Jessica) Dannemiller. Rita leaves 28 great grandchildren and a remarkable legacy. Thank you to the exceptional staff at Brookdale Trillium.

Family will receive friends 4-7 PM on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High St, Worthington, OH 43085. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road, Upper Arlington, OH 43220. Interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH.
