Rick Farris, age 49, of Laurelville passed away on May 13, 2021 at his residence. Rick was born August 29, 1971 to Richard Farris, Sr. and Sharon (Souder) Varney. Rick graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School. He worked for and retired from Defense Supply Center Columbus.
Rick loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed spending time on woodworking projects. Rick enjoyed barbequing and having hog roasts, playing pool and hanging out with friends and family. He was a friend to everyone he met and could talk with everyone about everything. Rick was always available to lend a helping hand to others in any way that he could.
Rick is survived by his lifelong partner of 21 years, Linda Carlos, who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Kristen (Steven) Sparks of Gahanna, stepfather Danny Bush of Lockbourne and his grandchildren Nick, Sammie, Morgan and Alyssa Sparks. Also surviving are his sister Tam (Jay) Coyer of Groveport, niece Leslie Coyer (John Bennett) of Groveport, nephew Logan Coyer of Columbus, and Uncle Donald Souder of Utica, along with several great-nephews and cousins. Rick will also be missed by his five canine family members.
Rick’s family will receive friends on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 2pm until 4pm and from 6pm until 8pm at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service, 151 East Main St., Circleville. On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, there will be a visitation at the funeral home from 12pm until 1pm when a funeral service will be conducted, followed by burial at Tarlton Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life to honor Rick will be held Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 1pm until 4pm with a Covered Dish Carry In at the Tarlton Town Tavern.
