Richard C. “Dick” Sensenbrenner, age 77 of Columbus passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 24, 2014. Dick was the founder and CEO of Creative Child Care, Inc. from its conception in 1970 until he retired in 2008. Dick served as Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Columbus, Ohio from 1964 through 1968. In 1968, Dick was appointed Regional Director for the United States Small Business Administration in Central and Southern Ohio. Dick received the highest citation issued by the Federal Government to a civilian employee for his outstanding performance.
Dick graduated from West High School in 1954 and earned his BBA from Ohio University. Dick served on various committees throughout his community, including participation in Big Brothers and Big Sisters and member of their Board of Directors; Vice President for the Leukemia Society and President of the Hilltop Lions Club. He was a member of the following organizations, Kinder Key; the Alzheimer’s Disease Association; Ohio Presbyterian Senior Independence Fundraising Council; the Ohio Air National Guard; Agonis Club; The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels; Fraternal Order of Police Association, life member of West High School Alumni Association. He also served at Overbrook Presbyterian Church as a Deacon and Elder along with being on their Board of Trustees. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, M.E. “Jack” and Mildred Sensenbrenner and his loving wife Sandra. He is survived by his children, Cindy Gifford, Karin (Todd) Waldron and Daniel Sensenbrenner; grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Gifford, Daniel and Marisa Waldron, and Parin Sensenbrenner; loving companion, Jan Williams; brother, Rev. Edward (Lois) Sensenbrenner; sister-in-law, Judy (Tim) Fallon; mother-in-law, Reah (Raul Jovan) Miller. Family will receive friends Sunday, March 30 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, March 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL 1740 Zollinger Rd. Columbus, OH 43221. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at OVERBROOK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 4131 N. High St. Columbus OH 43214. with interment to follow at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dick Sensenbrenner’s memory to Overbrook Presbyterian Church or to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital 660 Ackerman Rd. P.O.
