Richard A. Modarelli, age 62, of Lewis Center, formerly of Cleveland and Youngstown, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 peacefully at Kobacker House, after a brief illness. He was born on November 1, 1951 to the late William F. and Rosalie (Micko) Modarelli Sr. Rick was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Class of ’70. He was a professional drummer with various Youngstown Bands. He was most known for being a radio personality for the most popular station in Youngstown, Hot F.M. 101- “Rick Alan” during the 1980’s. He became a wine salesman for Ohio Wine Imports in Youngstown, OH and Wine Trends in Cleveland, OH. Rick ended his career as a wine consultant for Heinens Fine Foods. Amongst his favorite things were his love for music, wine education, electronics, movies, photography, cooking, and astrology. Rick was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians. He loved spending his time with family and friends and will be deeply missed. He leaves behind his son, Richard A. Modarelli Jr. of Struthers, OH; sister, Lisa (Tim) Weaver of Lewis Center, OH, where he lived; niece who was his “Little Princess,” Madeline Johnston of Lewis Center; former wife, Terri Modarelli; and many close cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William F. Modarelli Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 5, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 5750 N High St., Worthington, OH 43085. Father Matthew Morris, Celebrant.
