Rick is survived by his wife of 45 years Jackie Long and children Jay Long, Chris (Racheal) Long, Mike (Tammy)Long, Brother William (Lynn) Long, Brother in law and sister in law Rod and Janice Springer along with nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by his 8 grandchildren Tyler,Jacob, Kayla, Noah, Michael, Adrienne, Camden and Mason. He is preceded in death by parents William and Dorothea Long, in-laws Jack and Elsie Conroy, Sister Kathleen and daughter Heather Fuleki.
After graduating, Rick took a job with GE aerospace and worked at the international space center in Cape Canaveral. A few years later he moved back home to Columbus and worked for Rockwell North American aviation. He found an interest in residential design and in 1971 started his own design services company R.A. Long and Associates. He had great talent, knowledge and an eye for architecture. He loved his work, but more than that he loved his family, and above all he loved his Savior Jesus Christ. He was creative, generous and cherished his friendships. Rick also loved to fish and enjoyed going to Lake Erie. He loved Christmas time and the whole family being together. He loved the family tradition of getting the largest live Christmas tree he could find. He loved to help others and loved to laugh. He was a devoted husband, supportive father, a fun poppy and papaw and a loyal friend.
A memorial service for Rick is scheduled for August 19th at 10am at Schoedinger funeral home. The family will receive friends August 18th 4pm-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the General Endowment of the Worthington Christian Schools Foundation Fund.
