Richard "Dick" Boyd Greene, age 82, a longtime resident of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was the son of Richard and Marguerite Greene of Gloversville, New York.
He attended Suffield Academy where he excelled in athletics, earning 12 letters in football, running, and golf. He was also on the Board of Trustees. He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He retired as the Vice President of Swift and Company where he serves also on the Board of Directors. Throughout Dick's life, he enjoyed traveling to many different countries, some favorites being Ireland, Russia, and Scotland.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Filomena Greene, who passed away November 24, 2020. Dick and Filly were longtime residents of the Country Club of Sarasota Community, where their nieces and nephews often visited. While there, he was on the Board of Directors and was an avid golfer at Prestancia Golf and Social Club.
His true commitment to charities includes Alzheimer's Disease, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Wounded Veterans of America, the Salvation Army, and St. Jude's Hospital.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Irene Ferroni and Mary Theresa (Steve) Deibel; his niece, Erika (Jason) Bartlett and their children, Alexa (Josiah) Hunter, Anthony, Emma, Elijah, and Elizabeth Bartlett; nephews, Stephen (Lisa) Deibel Jr., and their children, Ronnie, Caroline, Rachel, and Stephanie Deibel; and Michael (Corinne) Deibel and their children, Emilie and Matthieu Deibel; and dear friends, John and Elaine Wells. All of whom will miss him greatly.
Arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME. A Graveside Service will be held to honor Dick's life on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at 11:30 at Mifflin Cemetery. Pastor Doug Warburton will officiate.
