Rebecca D. Jackson M.D., age 67, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Rebecca was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 18, 1955 to the late William and Dorothy (Woytowicz) Jackson. Rebecca was a professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, associate dean for Clinical Research, and the director of the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS). A lifelong Buckeye, Dr. Jackson completed medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and returned to Ohio State for a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism after completing her residency training at John Hopkins. She joined the OSU faculty in 1983. She was a nationally recognized translational clinician-scientist who studied women’s health. Dr. Jackson received many awards and recognition for her impressive body of work. In 2008, she was elected as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She also received The Ohio State University Distinguished Scholar Award, one of the university’s highest honors. In addition, she was a committed educator who mentored numerous physician scientists allowing them to advance their academic careers. Dr. Jackson was a dedicated faculty member to The Ohio State University and an avid Buckeye fan. Above all, she was great mother and a wonderful wife. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 34 years, Dr. Jerry Mysiw; children Alexander (Rachel Fenton) Mysiw and Natalie Mysiw; and brother William Jackson.
