Becky was born on December 22, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio to Jack and Goldie Farmer. She was the third of five children. Preceding her in death were Virginia Langley, Jack Farmer Jr., Robert Farmer and Goldie Bagby. At the young age of 17, she traveled to Indiana to marry the love of her life, her late husband John Harlan Lane Cardwell, on November 16, 1951. They were married until his death on September 29, 1994.
Her family will remember her as a selfless Christian matriarch whose life was devoted to her beloved family. Christ was her example, and no one who knew her was untouched by her kindness and generosity. She was blessed with the ability to find joy in bringing joy to others. Her unconditional loyalty to her family inspired strength that will live on in her descendants.
Becky was dedicated to the prayer and financial support of Christian ministries to spread the Gospel. As a young Christian, she attended Central Baptist Church on Russell Street, where she raised her daughters and served the Lord. She had a very special heart for the Amazing Grace Baptist Church and Charity Mission in Columbus, Ohio founded by her niece and nephew to minister to homeless men. She loved and supported this ministry to her end days.
Becky loved her country and the men and women who served it. A patriot, Becky always had a prayer, donation, or care package for those serving in the military. She loved the USA and the values we hold dear. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She looked forward to her annual hayride to welcome family and friends into her home. She loved holiday dinners and special occasions. “I love my family” was a constant quote throughout her life. In her last days, she took comfort in her family’s presence. We loved her and will miss her dearly.
Becky is survived by five loving daughters and three caring son-in-laws, Virginia Cardwell, Carolyn Sue Evans (William), Patricia Wells (Lonnie), Kathryn Anglin, and Melissa Kendralla (Kevin); her special grandchildren, John (Angie), Tony, Ramona, Jesse (Charity), Sarah (Ernie), Andrew, Rebecca, Chelsey, Mitchell; several great grandchildren including Tyler, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She told each of her grandchildren they were her favorite, and it was always true.
