I just learned of Raymond’s passing.  We were related through family member marriage and fellow Nationwiders.  I enjoyed seeing him at Nationwide for many years. I had lunch with him before I retired in 2018 - then I lost contact.  He always had that great smile and pleasant attitude.  I was always proud of what he had accomplished as a family man and as a professional at Nationwide.   God bless you Raymond.  

Some people who didn’t know Ray as long as I did may not know how good of a street basketball player he was, and he LOVED to shoot. He’d shoot when he was open, he’d shoot when he wasn’t open, but he’d keep shooting!  We used to ride around looking for a game all the time. I think Ray liked being teammates with me because I didn’t shoot much, but whenever I’d get a rebound, I’d pass it to him so he could of course…shoot.

 I miss passing you the ball old friend. I wish I could watch you take one more shot. I hope you are at peace.  Proud to call you my friend.  Mark

Your family at American Pan Co. purchased the Peaceful White Lilies Basket for the family of Raymond McLaughlin.

Ray I cannot believe you are gone; the news was devastating to hear and been thinking about you a lot since. I met you in 1982, played softball and basketball on different teams, coached your son during travel baseball and worked with you over 15 years. You were a good guy with a big heart, loyal, smart, funny. You were caring spent many years as a big brother and always, always talked about your kids. You will stay with me Ray, there is no way I ever turn on a Buckeye or Bengals game and not think of you. What I really struggle with I have not done much on FB and did not realize the physical pain or all you were going through. It makes me sad that I did not come over have a pizza watch a game just spend time with you. I have included two photos of Ray from 1982 Monroe middle school. One is yearbook and the other is me in white sweater with Ray in front of me with hands on his hips. Knew you a long time, really sad, been a difficult time, I pray you are with your mom again feel her love and comfort. You will be missed the rest of my days.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was friends with Ray from Nationwide in the early 90s. He was so kind, helpful, and fun to be with. He could figure out how to do anything - I remember he used to check vhs how to tapes out of the library if he didn't already know something. I missed his company when he left Nationwide for a bit and we lost touch. Your are in my thoughts.

Ralph and Shelly Zimmer purchased the Basket Full of Wishes for the family of Raymond McLaughlin.

While it’s been a while since I left Columbus and Nationwide, I remember Ray as a great friend in those early years.  I came to Nationwide and didn’t know anyone in the state and Ray along with Tracy, Paul, Susan, and Melissa really reached out to me.  Ray was a great guy who was always there when you needed him.  He made me feel so welcome.   He was a great athlete had an awesome sense of humor and just a great guy to be around.  I will always look back at those times playing on the Mauraders (Nationwide soccer team) and going out after work on friday nights with great joy.

My heart goes out to Ray’s family and friends.  Please know that I’ll be keeping you in my daily prayers as you go through this difficult time.

We talked, laughed, played cards, listened to some sports. Both of us liked our karaoke & even going to each other’s churches. 
Many were the times we just spent talking about our families.
