Peyton Carter

Peyton Dee Elizabeth Carter, age 22, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 8, 2021 of a drug overdose. Peyton was born in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Olentangy High School in 2016. Peyton had struggled for the last few years with addiction. This past September, Peyton relapsed on her 1-year sober anniversary and went back into rehab before going to sober living in January. Peyton was sober for over three months before relapsing again.

Peyton was smart, beautiful, spontaneous, kind, had a huge heart, a fearless spirit, and a bright future. She was stubborn and her smile and sense of humor was infectious. Peyton loved her daughter to the moon and back and she loved her family and friends. She loved music, make-up, and was always trying new things with her hair. Peyton loved traveling but especially loved the gulf beaches of Florida.

Peyton is survived by her two-year-old daughter, Luciana, and her loving parents, Staci and Shawn Carter of Lewis Center, Ohio; brother - Chase Carter of Hendersonville, Tennessee; brother - Cade Carter of Lewis Center, Ohio; maternal grandparents Deborah and Joe Windau of Dublin, Ohio, Jodie Ashton of Blue Rock, Ohio; paternal grandparents - Richard and Joyce Smith of Zanesville, Ohio; maternal great-grandmother, Rosalie Linscott of Zanesville, Ohio; paternal great-grandmother, Juanita Toft of Wheelersburg, Ohio; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and her special cat - Bugsly.

Peyton is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Gary Ashton, great-aunt, Dixie Lyons, great-uncle, Denny Linscott, maternal great-grandfather, Denzil Linscott, and paternal great-grandfather, Tom Toft.
