Pauline (Pam) Samsey, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 5, 2021, at the age of 84 at Brookdale Muirfield Assisted Living facility, in Dublin, Ohio.
Pam is survived by her three daughters: Carolyn Kessinger Pretell, Pamela Samsey, and Kathleen Samsey; her grandchildren: Christian Jacob (CJ) Kessinger and Constance Alexandra (Ali) Kessinger; Sister, Barbara Williams; Son-in-Law, Jaime Pretell; and Granddaughter-in-Law, Emily Wright Kessinger.
Pam was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on August 23, 1936 to Dennis Murphy and Esther Carroll and was the 12th child of a family of 12 children. She graduated from Our Lady Help of Christians High School and then graduated from Business College. Pam’s first marriage was to Thomas McDonald, who passed away unexpectedly from cancer. Later on in her life, she met and married Philip Samsey. Phil and Pam went on to adopt Pamela from Vietnam, and then a year later adopted Carolyn from Vietnam. Pam was told by doctors she could not have children. However, Kathleen was unexpectedly welcomed into the world in 1976. Pam devoted her life to raising her daughters and providing a comfortable and loving home for her family.
Pam had a successful career as secretary and formerly worked for the Vice Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon. However, if asked, she would say that being a mother was the most successful and satisfying career she could have hoped for. She was an avid animal lover and incredible cook. Her Catholic faith was a source of comfort and strength throughout her life. She was known for her strong devotion to her family, faith in God, and helping those in need. Pam touched many lives and left the world a much better place. She was a fighter until the very end and will be remembered for her giving nature and sacrifices she made for her family and others. The family would like to thank Feridean Commons and Brookdale Muirfield Assisted Living Communities for their compassion and care given to her when she needed it most. Additionally the family would like to express their gratitude to Marie Lecurgo, who has been a faithful and steadfast friend.
Visitation is scheduled for 5-7 pm with a Vigil and eulogies from 7-8 pm, on Friday February 12 at Schoedinger Funeral, 6699 N. High St., Worthington OH 43085.
