Paul Louis Pfeiffer, age 86, died at The Conavalarium at Indian Run on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born October 11, 1923, in Columbus, OH to the late Carl and Kathryn Pfeiffer. He spent his childhood at the Methodist Children’s Home, Berea, Ohio and graduated from North High School, in Columbus, Ohio in June 1941. Paul served in the U.S. Army Air Force, 390th Bomb Group during WWII. He trained as a gunner in Las Vegas, and declared, with his buddies, to be the “Best Damn Gunners to leave Las Vegas”, as they shipped off to Europe. He successfully completed thirty five missions as waist gunner on a B-17 bomber. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he enrolled in The Ohio State University and graduated March, 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Paul put his degree and talents to use in the commercial real estate business, where he was the co-owner of Pfeiffer/Grimes Realty, Pfeiffer Realty and Campus Investments and at one time owned and managed over one hundred eighty apartments. He retired from the real estate business in 1999. He raised his family in the community of Grandview Heights, OH and enjoyed gardening and telling good stories to anyone who would listen. He was a member of the Scioto Boat Club, and VFW, and a fifty year member of the Masonic Order, Lodge #684. Paul is survived by his wife of fifty one years, Delores, his daughter and her husband, Pat and Gary Gerdeman, Jacksonville, FL, his daughter and her husband, Brenda and Eric Christman, Dublin, OH; four grandchildren, Amanda Gerdeman, Louisville, KY, Kara Gerdeman, Jacksonville, FL, Kyle Christman, Dublin, OH and Natalee Christman, Dublin, OH; one sister, Virginia Thomas, Columbus, OH, and one brother, Carl Pfeiffer, Johnstown, OH. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services for Paul will be held at 1 PM Friday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. with calling one hour prior. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
